Did you know most youth soccer coaches, particularly of teams in younger age groups, are volunteers recruited from among the parents of players? The vast majority of them had no experience at all when they started, and learned as they went along. In addition to developing a love of the sport, they discovered a fun and enjoyable way to participate in the lives of their children. Believe it or not, some got so hooked that, even though their kids are grown, they volunteer to coach teams of young players just because they enjoy it! They are, however, not in such plentiful supply that you can assume you won't be contacted about volunteering as a coach or to help your child's coach.
