Welcome to the Ft. Lowell Soccer Club. On behalf of the Club, one of the oldest in Tucson, we want to express our thanks to you! Ft. Lowell Soccer Club, Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to organizing, promoting and providing public educational soccer for the youth of our community. The philosophy of the Fort Lowell Soccer Club is to foster inter- club cooperation and goodwill, to promote and advance the game of soccer and to allow each individual player to develop his or her soccer skills to their fullest potential. Participation on a soccer team not only allows youngsters and teens to enjoy themselves while developing soccer skills, but more importantly, gives them the opportunity to learn many of the skills life will demand of them. It is our hope they will learn commitment, dedication, how to work as a team and how to accept triumph and failure. Our attitudes as parents and coaches will either strengthen this process or hinder it. Many of our current volunteers no longer have children in the program. They have recognized and appreciated the benefits their children received from participating in the soccer program. Now they are giving their time in order to ensure that this experience is made available to other children in our community. If you, or your business, would like to sponsor this club, any of its teams, or its internationally recognized Ft. Lowell Shootout tournament, please call any member of the Board for details. This web site contains information that we hope will assist you. Please use the index shown (to the left) on every page to navigate your way around. Good luck during the upcoming season! Sincerely, Board of Directors The Fort Lowell Soccer Club, Inc. A Brief Description of the Ft. Lowell Soccer Club The Ft. Lowell Soccer Club, well respected throughout the southwest, was founded in 1973 and is the oldest club in Tucson. Our teams have excelled at the state, regional, and national levels. In the most recent years, we have witnessed an explosive growth in the sport. The Club is proud of our reputation, our dedicated volunteers, and our coaches! The Club's fundraising tournament, Shootout, has grown into one of the largest youth soccer events in America. Our coaches, board members, and Shootout Committee members are all volunteers. In order to develop new ideas and insure the continuation of the Ft. Lowell Soccer Club, we are always in need of volunteers. The Board of Directors normally hold meetings once a month. Meeting notices will be posted on the home page. All parents, coaches and team administrators encouraged to attend. Contact a Board Member to verify the date for any given month. In addition, parents of prospective Fort Lowell Soccer Club members should know that by registering their young player(s) with the Fort Lowell Soccer Club, they are acknowledging that membership carries an obligation they are willing to meet to volunteer, as assigned, at the Fort Lowell Shootout. Meeting the volunteer obligation may sound like a "chore" to some - but we have many volunteers whose children no longer play (or, indeed, have moved to another club!) who return to volunteer year after year. Others who may have been "roped" into working at the Shootout by coworkers willingly return - and even view some assignments as "theirs" and not to be turned over to someone else. However, operating an event like the Fort Lowell Shootout requires over 600 volunteers . . . if we are to continue and build upon our successes, everyone must participate. Our Club registers hundreds of players every year, and is one of approximately twenty-five clubs in the Pima County Junior Soccer League , which in turn is one of twenty-one leagues in the Arizona Youth Soccer Association . It is important to note that both the League and the State associations have their own coaches and administrative manuals, with their rules and regulations, that have been refined after years of organizing youth soccer. Fort Lowell SC coaches are provided with the state, league and club coaching manuals and handbooks at the annual fall Coaches' Meeting. |
