Why choose to play in the Gunners Competitive Program? The Gunners Competitive Program is the competitive division within Fort Lowell Soccer Club. The Gunners coaches have set out to develop soccer players to their fullest potential. The coaching staff consists of local competitive and developmental coaches who have come together with a common goal. The Gunners Competitive Program strives to help young people mature into well-adjusted, productive adults with strong character and have the proper exposure to the fun and exciting game of soccer. The Gunners program is a part of the long established Fort Lowell Soccer club. Under the supervision of the FLSC board of directors, the founding coaches are permitted to form an Administrative Committee that will vote on day to day soccer issues concerning the Gunners program. An additional group consisting of parents and local leaders in the community known as the Advisory Committee will help with the organization, planning, and implementation of goals created by the Administrative Committee. With this in mind, the Gunners staff has set forth some simple guidelines for our teams to follow. Each coach must sign and abide by our Coach’s code of conduct and the Fort Lowell bylaws (Article 8 and 10). This code is available to any member of the program. Each coach will do his best to participate in local leagues, as long as these leagues offer the right level of competition without risk to injury. Each coach must have his team or teams participate in at least 2 charitable events each year. The goal is to promote community service and volunteerism within our players. We feel that this quality will help our players to understand what it means to give back to their community in a positive and meaningful way. Along with building team goals, the Gunners program will help to identify and establish individual goals for each player and use an Advanced Soccer Curriculum to assist each player in achieving these goals. The Advanced Soccer Curriculum is a combined program that the Gunners have adopted in order to further each child’s success. It will be upholding USSF and NSCAA guidelines in order to reach our team and individual goals. Finally, you should choose the Gunners Program because you do have a say in your child’s experience. Each of our coaches is aware that you are paying customers. Each coach will be fully responsible for his own team finances. Each team will set up a bank account. The parents will then pay their fees into the account. The manager will pay the coach his training fees and all other applicable fees. The accounting will be available to any parents of the particular team. There will be no hidden costs, expected fundraisers for the program, or misunderstood use of money. Each team will act financially independent of the others, but will be part of a greater community, the FLSC GUNNERS! We are excited that you have taken the time to learn about our program. It is time to make a change in the Tucson soccer community by supporting the community and being part of the oldest and most financially stable soccer club in southern Arizona, Fort Lowell Soccer Club. |
